Club Issues 18th August 2022
Just an update on some current Club issues. Firstly, a reminder on the upcoming change to Club practice times I alerted you to a while ago, whereby we have cancelled the Saturday morning session, and will replace it with the pre-Pandemic Monday evening session, and with our Wednesday evening session remaining as is. The first Monday evening session will start on September 5th, and will run from 6-30pm to 8-00pm, and will cater for mixed ability, Junior and Senior.
After a two-year break, and assuming that current circumstances prevail, we intend to resurrect our Xmas night/Awards evening, and I have booked the Main Hall for Wednesday 14th December. Chris and I would also like this evening to mark the occasion of our official stepping back from the day to day running of the Club, which we announced earlier this year. Chris will retire fully from her Treasurer, and Secretarial duties, whilst my own intent will be to partially withdraw, but we have spent the last few months planning a new structure for the Club, and I will clarify following our September Club Committee meeting. Therefore, all past and present members are most welcome to attend our evening, which will include a free buffet.
Of course, we must not forget that any plans for the future will revolve/depend around the question of the future of the Dojo, and in fact of DSS itself following the sale of the site to a Development Company. We still await a follow up meeting date with our new Landlord to hear of their plans, and in addition to our existing Club Committee, we have formed a Sub Committee who will represent the Judo Cub in any future negotiations. I shall of course keep you updated on future developments.
