Beginners
We welcome complete beginners of all ages to Dowty Judo Club. Our beginner sessions provide a friendly and supportive environment where you can learn judo at your own pace, build confidence, and enjoy getting active. No prior experience is required — just a willingness to try something new and have fun.
What You Learn
In beginner sessions, we focus on the fundamentals of judo, including:
Breakfalls – learning to fall safely and protect yourself.
Basic Throws – simple techniques to start developing control and balance.
Groundwork (Ne-Waza) – basic pins, holds, and escapes.
Movement & Fitness – improving coordination, agility, and overall fitness.
All techniques are taught safely and progressively, allowing beginners to feel comfortable on the mat while building skills and confidence.
Friendly & Supportive Environment
Our coaches provide guidance and encouragement at every step. Beginners train alongside others at a similar level, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. You also have the opportunity to join gradings and competitions when you feel ready.
